Plan Ahead

Well I have six months left until the big day, give or take a week or two of course, and many things are starting to come to mind. The big things of course are the birth, parenthood, swollen feet, and finances. I’m working on plans for them all and doing a great job overwhelming myself; however money is the most concerning to me right now. I’m sure birth will trump it soon enough, but for now how do I plan to pay for it all? Well one thing I can do is start stocking up now. Blankets, clothes, and of course diapers. I don’t really like the thought of big chunks of my disposable income going down the disposable drain, but what else can you do? Get good deals at least and plan ahead. Rather than grabbing whatever’s on the shelves of my local grocery store and paying whatever price they deem fit, I plan to shop online and buy in bulk. You know you’re going to need them so why wait?

When it doesn’t go right

Some days nothing goes right, or so the cliché goes. Today was one of those days. I’ve had a few in my life, but this one is the blue prize winner. Not so much in the heartache department but in the pocket book one. I could tell you the saga about how I broke the heel off of great pair of shoes this morning, stained a new shirt, and dinged up my car. However, I’m going to skip to the big messy finale. The part where my cat scares my boyfriend badly enough to knock him into the humongous mirror hung in my dining room. Five hours, eighteen stitches, and a garbage bag of shattered glass later I’m left wondering. Where do you get new huge wall mirrors anyway? The internet of course. You may be wondering with all the other financial mishaps of the day why I’m fixated on replacing the mirror above all else. Simple, the mirror isn’t mine. Word to the wise, don’t borrow large, old, expensive and fragile furniture no matter how good it looks in your home.

Medical gloves around the house

I like to have a box of medical gloves to use around my house. As they said on a recent NBC.com video, they are great when cleaning toilets and other dirty places. I can put them on when cleaning out the cat box or putting medicine on the dogs and cats. I think they are a great item to have in the home first aid box. A person never knows who might be visiting and have an accident where they start bleeding.
Latex gloves make a great skin barrier against the harsh chemicals I use to clean soap scum off of the bathtub and shower. This keeps me from getting exposure to the chemicals. I also keep a pair of gloves in the glove compartment of my car for emergencies while traveling. There are many home uses for medical gloves.

Nursery rhyme decorating

Nursery rhyme decorating can be so much fun. I like to paint the walls and the bed, like a twin bedroom set, colorful and bright. Then I look for nursery prints both old and new for variety. There are a wide variety of vintage nursery prints that can be bought online or at flea markets, and if you are into garage sales or looking in the attic you might find some close to home. There are a variety of ways to decorate the walls with these vintage prints. I like framing special pictures from books and posters for the walls. Then I add some colorful curtains and bedspreads along with complimenting furniture and then have a beautiful newly decorated room. Some final touches are a few classical large stuffed animals to bring the characters to life.

Multiple uses of Adult Diapers
